Riding into Naburn from the Stillingfleet side, about 2.40pm, said hello to a girl in jodhpurs on a Giant FCR, with her friend behind on a Dawes town bike, riding out of the village to the stables?

Dispelled the old "roadies are snobs" idea...;)

I can truthfully say that neither of those girls were me, Arch, if that's what you mean...

Doesn't trying to track down random men who just happen to say 'hello' smack of . . . well, desperation?

(...as he frantically studies the map to see if he can include Naburn and Stillingfleet into his ride home)

What's wrong with smacking of desperation? I would have thought it to be a quite admirable quality.

It was the jodhpurs that clinched it.

Am I? I suppose I am, in that I ride on the road mainly, but this guy was all done up in the right kit, dropbar bike etc, whereas I was sweating along in jodphurs, a tee-shirt and DMs, with two panniers... Didn't feel very roadie like...
