Do you wash your frying pan or just wipe it with a cloth? I worked in a few restaurants when younger and the chefs always had their frying pans wiped with a dry or slightly damp cloth, never washed.
Depends what's been in there - hot water if there's been sauce in there, kitchen towel while still warm if just fat/oil.

I've a hard choice between mixed grill kebab or Mexican Hot pizza tonight, and no washing up .

Let it soak for a while, then heavy application with elbow grease,
True story.
Many years ago a friend had got his (young) daughter to do the washing up and told her "put some elbow grease into it".
After a while he went into the kitchen to find the daughter searching through the unit. He asked her what she was doing and she replied "I'm looking for the elbow grease".

I once offended a friend by washing up and then, as I'm naturally a bit fussy, going over her cooker hob with a damp cloth. When she saw me doing that she took huge offence and has never allowed me to forget it. Humph.

So you've got a thing about knives too. Are you getting any counselling?
One of my other hobbies is knife-smithing. Not silly combat/bowie/fantasy knives, but useable, simple, sharp blades designed for delicate work like filleting fish or paring fruit/veg

What's wrong with a Bowie knife?
Single bladed, sharp(if looked after). Good in the kitchen if needed.

Delicate work, go for the scalpel!

Good for butchery, but don't try to slice an onion with it...you'll need spare fingers and a needle and thread...
