Used to do this when I flat shared in the early 90's.

Probably the sensible option under flatsharing conditions.

Everything into the dishwasher other than teaspoons (never have enough otherwise), "best" glasses, pans and some plastic stuff. These get done after dinner (or tea where I come from) every evening.

We bought a new house in 1990 and there was a space in the kitchen after all the appliances we had were installed. I couldn't understand what it was for. It was for a dishwasher. I didn't know anyone at that time that had one and I probably had never seen one "in situ" before. So we got one........and never looked back

If we didn't have a dishwaher (or read another way..before we had a dishwasher)..we'd wash after every meal. Couldn't stand dirty dishes sat in a sink....ugly.

My answer is: whenever. Sometimes I let it pile up for a week. Other times I'm all over it. Sometimes I feel like doing it, sometimes not. It doesn't affect my health to approach it this way and it saves on dishwasher costs as I don't have one.

Dishwasher, but we don't tend to use it for pots and pans and they get done after each meal. A dishwasher is supposed to use less energy than doing it the old fashioned way and they are great for cleaning bike bottles!

Longest pots stay unwashed is overnight. Not too stressed about it really

Suppose it depends on how one does the dishes manually and what settings one puts the dishwasher on.

Slightly less chemical impact on the enviroworldment the hand method too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! Where I prepare food is kept hygienic, the sink is kept clear, dirties pile up on a different work surface until there's enough to warrant a full bowl of piping hot water. I should add that I live alone

I made some bread two weekends ago. I've just mopped up the residual flour and oil from the worktop this evening

Me too, to be honest. What I should have said is I've never given myself food poisoning.... That's hygienic in my book.
