It is the same at ours. I don't drive so I am not allowed in unless I cadge a lift or go by taxi!
Same at our tip too, but they let me in on my bike!
Edit: nowadays you need to make an appointment online, I guess with car reg, so I don't think I would be allowed to make an appointment with the bike as vehicle.

At my local recycling centre you can make a booking as a pedestrian or cyclist (screenshot from the booking page)

Good for coating fence panels

I use a mix of old engine oil and creocote - using the mix was primarily to get rid of the creocote. When I installed the panels they only lasted one year before needing treatment, so I used the same mix and they were good for about 10 years. I treated them again earlier this year, much to the delight of my neighbour who has his property for sale - he said "wow, that's good, they look like new.
I often question the 'eco idea' behind the products available for such work - a neighbour opposite does his fence with 'water-based' eco stuff which only lasts 2 years. So 5 x the manufacture, 5 x plastic container....... You get my logic?

When I was an apprentice 50 years ago one of my jobs every year was to oil all the wooden fence panels around the garage property , I should think they are still there.

Well didn’t you challenge the restriction and get it lifted like been done elsewhere ?

Why? I have no intention of ever walking to the site, given it is about 6 miles from home, and I only go there when I have pretty well a car full of stuff to take.
