Love watches, but I'm unlikely to ever be able to aspire to the Rolex/Breitling/Weil level.
Just reasonably priced or practical ones (9 at present) that I like the look of.
Two favourites are my 30 year old Accurist, plain white face (unusually small that was popular in the 1980s) with Roman numerals, and a Mondaine Swiss Railway.
On the bike I never wear anything other than a cheap digital or my indestructible Rohan, just in case.

Just deciphering the interesting 'code' being used by the watchologists in this thread as I have a spare moment...carry on. (This is an Ianrauk watch. The bloke sitting in the chair is a young(er) deptford marmoset).

That's the watch I'm wearing right now - my wife bought it as a birthday present for me so I feel I must wear it but she knows I dislike its 'time-keeping'. And here's another thing I hate about it; it stinks! I'm not kidding either. I work in an aseptic, as-sterile-as-possible environment (operating theatres) so cleanliness is paramount. You notice anything untoward and my watch, like that in the picture, has a leather strap. And boy, is it foul of Dame Judy!

It's a lovely looking watch.
Re the stinking strap issue.
For cycling I buy watches with silicone straps. Solved that issue.

I never use it for any sport. I only use my forerunner for riding or running. The Tag is for the rest of the time but it still emits a smell. I've replaced the strap due to that issue but after about six months, the new-er one went the same way. And it wouldn't suit me to have a metal strap. My wife's Rolly has one and when she put it back on after a hard day sunbathing, she winced with pain due to its scorching heat. And it will also build up a residual cold in the upcoming winter as well as the build up of grime between the links. I think I'd be better off with a sun dial.

I got one of these -> http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/2128739.htm it is great. I use it for cleaning the strap on my Tissot as it gets dirty between the links and you can get in there with anything, so I just remove it from the watch and pop it in the Sonic Bath.

Exact same strap? Might be a Tag specific problem, same as Nike trainers smell of cat pee. Out of 100's of watches that have passed through my hands, it's been unusual to have a smelly strap, unless it's come from a smoker. As Ianrauk says, there are plenty of suitable silicon/rubber straps available to suit your watch.

I have one of these. The reason being that it's atomic so updates every day so is always to the second correct and i don't have to worry about changing the time when the clocks go forward or back.
