B. Not CYCLING clothing per se, a wicking top and track pants do the job. Shirt and trousers fold up small enough in my panniers.

A word of warning though...don't stop off at Tesco and buy their spinach and pine nut pasta to take in fur lunch. The plastic tub isn't leak proof and you can put on your shirt and find a big spinachy oil stain where it's leaked out and into the plastic bag containing clothes.

Trust me - I know this well! Had to be on the day with a meeting with "outsiders"

That strikes a chord. Tesco's Chicken Pasta With Basil puled the same trick on me!
I'm still firmly with option B though........

Decent jacket and overshoes. Everything else gets wet and I change/shower at work. Total rainproofing is IMO impossible without a very uncomfortable ride and getting soaked from your own vapours anyway. Rain is far cleaner and less prone to cause BO!!

3 miles only, I'd actually go for A

That said I don't even consider cycling to work if it's raining hard enough to get that wet

Or B - given you have a 15 minute commute, adding 5 minutes to change is hardly going to affect your sleep patterns that much

OK as the weather does its thing I'm running the dilemma of how to commute (quiet at the back shouting car) do I....

A : get fully fitted out in waterproofs so then I sssh along and have an added layer of clothing getting me all hot & bothered

Or do I....

B : start to commute in normal clothes and change into uniform once I get there meaning I'll have to get to work even earlier

I think it is down to how far you commute and what is more comfortable on the actual journey. If you go for quite a distance (I do 17 miles each way) then I would go for comfort on the journey. Personally I hate the feeling of cycling in wet soggy cycling gear, so have some very light water proofs that keep me mainly dry and warm. If I was only doing 3/4 miles, then I would be less inclined to bother with a whole "winter" wardrobe".

Baby wipes, why didnt I think of that. My Mrs is always amazed at what they clean stuff off her pushchair that even white spirits wont touch. Having a 10 month running around means we have enough baby wipes for me to borrow. I go through the whole strip down wash routine when I get to work (sorry for the image if you have one), but it does mean I have mastered the knack of having a nice set of clean, dry, warm clothes to change into already waiting at work.

Baby Wipes are a cyclists very best friend
They clean me and they clean my bike. What's not to like?

I wear cycle clothing and I am lucky to have a shower at work, I can (if said nobber doesnt hog the only towel rail) dry my kit off during the day. Fitting SKS guards has made a world of difference.
