No, they are called the Black Stars Accy, not only due them being black but because of the black star on the Ghana flag.

I've always like the name Accrington Stanley as I remember my father crossing off the score draws on his football pools as we sat by the radio. The other name I love is Hamilton Academicals.

Come to think of it,there was a bloke down my local pub once who came from Wolverhampton way. I said to him once that i was going to watch Accy Stanley tomorrow and he could come if he liked. He replied that he seriously thought that there wasn't really an Accy Stanley,as they'd just made them up for that milk advert.

Well not quite the world but the bottom division of The Football League. We were the usual bookies favourites to go down this season, but the "poorest club in the Football League" defied all the odds and came out the best of 24 teams. It's not often Stanley win anything. The last time was 12 years ago when we last won promotion,so i'd like the whole of you on CC and not just those who read the Football thread to have the opportunity to pay your tributes!

Be warned Leicester F C may be looking for a new manager.

There were quite a few moaners at the game yesterday. They didn't like the new fans Stanley's success has brought in. "Jumping on the bandwagon",some might say. One moaner near to where i stand constantly says stuff like "we'll be back to 1200 next year(4,700 there yesterday),and these ones i haven't seen before won't be seen for dust". I then overheard him saying to another fan that he first came here when the club let people in for free once,hoping that it would attract new fans. So it's ok for him to become a new fan,but not others.
