I reckon the OP should put [Australia] in his thread titles so we know not to worry too much. He does post a lot of news links from Down Under, as if there is no news from anywhere else.

Wasn't meant to be critical, just find it interesting sometimes to get posts from other countries to see how stereotypes vary? Something we learnt a few years ago which surprised me at the time and contradicts Crankarms comment. We were over there on holiday and surprised to find that the idea that they are fit/outdoors types is not really correct. We found that a lot we met seemed to drive everywhere, and the 'outdoors' really meant sitting by the barbie, eating and drinking. Even fishing, which in this country is not exactly strenuous, involved driving your Ute into the sea with rods attached to the bumper, then sitting inside eating and drinking. Think the obesity rates are similar to America, which is a bit depressing, having been brought up on Neighbours!!

I think it's quite Interesting to see how and what other countries think of cycling and cyclists. I wouldn't mind news about cyclists or cycling from other countries either, as we have members from all over the planet, and it makes a change from the usual threads that we have here. Like heaven forbid helmets or which head cam to buy, which we also seem to get a lot of. thumbs up and smiley,

Cyclists obviously need registration, but so do pedestrians, skiers, skaters, dinghy sailors, and of course, tree climbers and knitters. This might be expensive for Nanny to administer and impose an excessive burden (did I mention those reckless weightlifters?) on the taxpayer. The obvious solution is for everybody to be marked, at birth, across the forehead with a 30mm tall barcode that can be remotely scanned by Nanny.

Job done.

It would be a complete waste of time and money. It would be beyond childishly easy to get around any registration system, it would be nigh on impossible to police as well. It's been tried in a few places, it's failed miserably each time.
