Hello there.

I have just changed the EVO386 BB on my bike to cure a click on pedalling.

The bearings still seemed reasonably smooth but there were wear marks on the spindle on both the drive side and non drive side, not much but definitely a shiny mark where the spindle contacts the bearings. This bike has done about 7000K miles.

Would you expect to see marks on a Hollowtech ii spindle. I don't remember seeing any on any previous chainsets that have used a Shimano screw in BB. Chainset is a Ultegra 6800.

I don't think its a real problem but was surprised to see it.

What do you think?

I’ve got a threaded 6800 set up on one of my bikes, this isn’t unusual. The 6800 spindles seem much more fragile than the lower end versions.
