Looks like a decent week for commuting coming on. 7 day forecast for most areas is very cold but critically dry. My tow path commute has not been pleasant over recent weeks as it's been a slippery muddy mess. Am hoping we get some hard but grippy surfaces.

The cold doesn't bother me so much as the wind and rain.

Whether i still feel like that when wheeling the bike out of the garage in minus 5 remains to be seen though!!!!

it's all good and part of God's rich pattern

wind is the biggest ag, cold is no problem at all as long as it doesn;t mean ice

Hope so, bike is filthy by Friday, Monday looks brand new again, then its all wet again !
but I like tinkering with it on a Sunday, but some cold but dry road days would be a welcome relief

What is a 14kmph wind like? That's what the weather is saying it'll be like early this week, but I have no idea what that means in terms of 'feel'.

Depends on if it's with you or against you

I'm always glad to see the wind below 10mph personally.

that's quite calm i think.

you'd notice it feels slightly easier if it was behind you, but it wouldn't hinder you greatly if it was in your face.

14mph isnt too bad, but you would notice it as a headwind. There would be no freewheeling and as soon as you took your foot of the gas any progress would die.

Not looking bad here this week, dry with a slight tailwind on the way in each day, headwind going home (not so bad on the way home after I'm fuelled with Lucozade Sport and energy bars  )

Snowing Friday afternoon, over the weekend, then all next week so I'm looking at getting some snow tyres in time for those snowy days, I can imagine the trails will be pretty poor in the snow. I think I at least need to swap from my semi tyres to my original nobblies for the bad weather

My aim is to do 5 days this week, have to see how that works out

If this cold snap is a sign of things to come later this winter, then I dread to think how bad the potholes are going to get this year, what with all the budget cuts.

Many of last year's potholes are still around ahnd gradually getting worse, while the one's that were hastily and cheaply repaired have already broken up again. Another cold winter will only make things worse, regardless of how wet or dry it is.
