We picked our rings together, as a pair. May father (married in 1958) had always worna wedding ring, and there was no question in my mind about doing so.

I'd been with my wife to be for about 6 weeks, was sleeping at her place most nights. One morning she said "if we are going to stay together for a while, should we get a double bed?", to which I replied, "If we're going to do that, shall we get married?" (Not the most romantic proposal ever!)

That morning, we went into town, ordered a double bed, then went to a jewellers and ordered the rings as a pair. Then phoned both our parents to tell them we were getting married. Both parents - mine saying to her, and hers to me said "Do you know what you are getting yourself into?"

That was October, the wedding was January, and we are still together 45 years later, with grown up kids, and the eldest grandchildren being adults.

You may know but my wife of 55 years passed away nearly 3 years ago. We had matching rings as in both plain but mine was broader. When we got engaged my parents said it will never last so we should buy her a 'dress' ring. My daughter has that ring now.

It is lovely seeing the post from @Arch as to what she would wear to her wedding, should she ever find someone to marry her.

Wedding dress with trains on it, IIRC, was the answer.
