When steaming platforms generate a whole playlist based on what you wanted to listen to, these days a lot of that playlist will be AI generated music... that way they don't have to pay out quite so many royalty cheques to actual musicians and songwriters.

Don't you just love capitalism.

I use Spotify a lot and to date the generated playlists have been full of bona-fide artists eg the Weekly Radar compilation. No AI whatsoever.

Main genres: pop, dance-pop & edm. Plus a smattering of 70's & 80's hits.

I must say, my suggested music is always of similar bands (metal, folk) but if you leave it playing unattended for long enough, you do tend to go down a rabbit hole of things I've never heard or would never listen to. For all I know I could have been listening to a robot without knowing

there was an article on R4 today about this very thing... AI music that one could easily mistake as genuine classic rock or post-punk synth pop. possibly The World at One but I'm not sure.

I don't use the streaming services yet I happen across a lot of AI content on YouTube... specifically ambient music and documentaries. It's annoying.
