yeh, good to see another Brit doing well, with nicole cook out.Don't know much about her, understand it was her first go at the world champs.hopefully she'll be one for the future and can build on this performance. Understand another Brit was 25th.Anyone know if BBC showing any highlights?

:biggrin::biggrin: Terriffic! She really got the best out of herself, on a course which only partially suited her talents. She should be very proud of this achievment and use it as motivation to go on to further success! xx(:becool:

It was her second Worlds - she did it in 2005 but crashed.
She has always been an endurance athlete....I was a couple of years below her at school in her brother's class, and she won anything you could think of that lasted more than 2 minutes! She convincingly won everything and did higher level cross country and duathlons too. I believe she started at Cambridge University as a runner before injury and then switched more to cycling (may have rowed as well which was a family thing).

For someone coming from flat Norfolk, it may be surprising that she is such a good climber, but then she is built like one. Apparently she isn't full time either - still studying for PhD!!

thanks for info SLOWDOWN and LEILEI will try to remember to set vid for sunday highlights.
Thanks for background on Emma P from WILL1985. She seems a natural born athlete who can operate at a high level at many sports. Most of us struggle for mediocrity at one sport:smile:
Think there was something on tv recently about getting athletes from other sports into our cycling setup to see if they could make the grade for 2012. It can only be good for cycling and raise the profile of our sport even higher.
