Well they paid out like a third less than it would cost to replace with the same bike!

The missus won't let me store the bike indoors!

swap the missus!

sorry to hear the bad news though

Well it would be ploughed fields, grassy parks, canal trails...

Baring in mind in needs to be one from halfords and the voucher is only for £220

Something like the Dahon Jack would work well for that, especially with a change of tires. The only issue is that it's only available second hand as it's no longer in production (pretty much replaced by the Tern brand at Evans as far as I know?).

Maybe you could sell the £220 voucher for a little less on here and save up the rest - I'm sure there will be someone here wanting be buy a Boardman etc from Halfords who would buy them off you.

Spare bedroom is where bikes should be stored. Public spaces for cheapo machines or for a short time only.

If you really loved your bike you'd keep it in the living room.

My bike was stolen! For those who might not know I got a bike end of year before last and around 6months later it was stolen while padlocked to a bike-ring under my block of flats!

I bought another bike, paid out for an expensive D-lock which I used to attach it to a another bike-ring, stored in a bike shed with a code locked door and this has been stolen!

Apparently someone forgot to shut the code locked door behind them and some gits got in and took most of the bikes. They got round the locks by actually unbolting the bike-rings from the floor and taking them as well!

Thankfully I had insured it AND they have agreed to pay out. However apparently I have to pay £100 excess because it was taken from a communal area and I was paid out the remainder in Halfords vouchers (as that's where the stolen bike was originally bought from).

Maybe life is telling me something...2 bikes, 2 different locations, 2 different locks.....both stolen

Thats a B****** , apart from the theft hows the cycling going?

Who wants a laugh?

I relented and used the voucher to buy a bike from halfords. Went for the subway 2013 ltd edition, managed to get it for 199 so only actually paid 19.99 plus the cost of a new lock. Put it down in the bike shed and within a week it had been nicked !
