Well I've done it, I've sold the car.

I sold my car about a month ago, it had only done 250 miles in 6 months, so thought it was time to sell it, I went to a few garages to get the best price, I paid the remaining finance off, and got a bit of money left in the bank.

Seems a bit odd because I've had a car for the last 30 years, but in the end it was pointless having it sat in the garage, I was going to buy a new bike with the money left over, but her indoors has other ideas

Think of the money you'll save in insurance, parking charges, [not so much saved on petrol] and VED... can you use that as an excuse to put it to alternative transport... [how about a tandem Paul?]

I would hate to be without a car.

I am quite lucky, as I don't need the car for work (work is only 5 miles away) I do a bit of shopping on the way home if needed. or me and her in doors have a walk over to Tesco's when needed. if circumstances change, new job or move to another branch, then maybe look for another car, but for now just enjoying the extra money I will save, and more miles out on the bike:smile:

I sold mine too, last week. Replaced it with another:whistle:
On the plus side, I believe I am no longer a 'tosser' (Volvo 4x4), and now firmly in the 'Blue Rinse' (Honda) brigade....

I've just brought a car, but I've yet to sell the old one, I was car free for over 30 years and only started driving again about 18 months ago

I am not saying it is wrong, more that many things I enjoy like swimming, seeing the kids, National Trust and lots more including work will not be doable.

I got rid of my Vauxhall Zafira late last year as we needed a bigger vehicle for planned photography ventures.
We now have the 'truck' but to be honest, I don't really use it.
It's hubbys and he pays for road tax etc and I put in fuel as and when I use it.
I did the pay the years insurance on it but I won't be doing that when it's next due for renewal.

I really don't know how I could afford to run my own car now - I now spend my money on Priscilla :bicycle::wub: and cycle related clothing for me!
