Well I've gone and done it

Not certain I should put this here (mods or admin please feel free to move to correct location) but here goes.
I have just bought a Dawes Horizon from Wiggle through the CTC shop along with nearly £50 worth of free extras and now I am all excited at the thought of it arriving:smile:. Now I know that some of you are going to say that I shouldn't buy before trying first but none of my LBS's could give me that option for one reason or another and as I don't drive travelling long distances is not an option open to me. Just got to wait for the credit agreement to arrive then sit back and watch out for the postie carrying a very large parcel. I will post a review after it arrives and I've taken it for a spin.

I've a soft-spot for the Horizon,it's almost a unique product at that price-range and users are very happy with them.
Look forward to a full report!

Im sure it will fit well. I worried about the same thing getting mine by post for the first time ever, but its turned out to be a very comfy ride for me and Im still over the moon with it. Talking to the guys on the phone was very helpfull too, seem s a real nice chap and was very helpful.
If I had more money at the time I would have gone for a galaxy or something similar, so it was a compromise, but one Im more than happy with.

Oh yes, good choice, far better than the other one you were considering a while ago. Look forward to a review.

Hope it all goes well. I couldn't try my bike before I ordered it online, since there's only one UK distributor and it's online, but I'm perfectly happy with it so far ;)

I'd be interested to hear how it all fits together. Buying a bike from a good shop (and there are some that aren't) means that a trained mechanic has spend a couple of hours aligning the rear derailleur, aligning the brakes, re-greasing the bottom bracket and so on.

Mine had the bars strapped to the frame all connected with the gear and brake cables, and the pedals were vacuum packed, the front wheel was strapped to the frame both needed fitting . After putting the bars in and pedals on and removing all the protective wrapping from the frame, the only other thing I needed to do was twist the front derailer around the tube slightly to straighten it up, all the gears and brakes were set up already, a quick wipe ,well a good polish later and checking all screws were tight away I went, oh and the mud guards needed fitting too. About an hour in all I think.
And the steering needed slight adjustment, as it came stiff, factory setting I was told.

Nice one, you'll love it. I've got a bike from Wiggle before now. They come "ready to ride" so in effect all you have to do is straighten the handle bars and put the pedals on. Then tweak it to suit. It probably takes longer to get the bike out of the chuffin box! I got a free pedal spannar and nice set of allen keys (along with some sweeties) with my bike.

Probably what is meant by the complimentry bike tools that Wiggle have added to my order. I hope it isn't raining when it comes as there is absolutely no room to assemble it in the flat and I will be very disappointed if I need to wait before having some fun:wacko:.
