Lets see what this newly upgraded machine does to me next

If you use Chrome, and log in to it. it will store browsing history etc, in your user account. This means you can log into any chrome browser on any computer, and be able to access your search history, bookmarks, and log in data (Just remember to log out)

Tried to do something on Edge the other day, like playing a video. Message 'this is not currently supported, opening IE instead'.

Windows 10 :stop:

I think it's just your luck. My Dell laptop upgraded from W7 to W10 3 days ago, it was absolutely seamless and there have been no issues at all. All passwords still working etc. I'm really liking W10 too.

Unfortunately I still have my Desktop & Wife's laptop still to upgrade, so still plenty of time for things to go a bit Pete Tong

Well I've found out how to get explorer back onto my taskbar, now its just where are my games hiding (I mean just the pre-installed 7 games, I'm lost without 'hearts' and 'spider solitaire' :cursing:. Clicked on the folders but they're 'empty' :cursing:

I have tried to update to Windows 10 a few times now and it gets to a certain point, turns the computer off and thats that. When I manually turn it back on again it gives me the message 'reloading your original OS', then arses about a bit.
Someone said 'when it turns off, leave it a while it will reboot itself'. Well I left it 4 hours and still nothing happened so I gave up. Stupid stupid upgrade.

I had no problems with the upgrade and afterwards everything was just how I left it. Edge has worked on every site I've tried it on but I'd still rather use Opera and Chrome. All in all I'm happy with 10. Upgrading does seem to be a mixed bag though.

I heard Paul Thurrott on Windows Weekly say that MS were rolling out Windows 10 to know good machines first and will work their way to the more problematic machines later, hopefully once the problems are fixed. If you're having problems and you downloaded the installer rather than waiting for your reservation to be ready this could be why.

No, they notified me and this is a relatively new laptop in extremely 'good' condition (it has never had any 'dodgy' programs loaded or 'bootleg' software installed, pretty much a pristine machine....................................and no porn before you ask, that's automatically blocked by parental controls on BT infinity)

Hit windows key.

Just start typing hearts or spider and they should come up

'Upgraded' today. Took about an hour. Unable to get past a continually flashing desktop. Rang help desk. No with them for an hour trying to fix it. No joy. They reckon it's a problem with the Norton av. Was talked through procedure to reinstall Windows 8.1 at 3 o'clock. It's now 4.30 and screen still says ' Restarting'.
Beginning to wish I hadn't bothered as I was happy with 8.1.
Gonna leave it 'restarting' whilst I go out for a 35 mile ride in a mo and see if anything moves.

Well I gave it a try then successfully returned to 7, had to re- reset my password to get back on here though.
According to my update reports about 6 windows 10 updates failed after I'd installed it and before I restored the machine to 7'
The web browser seemed linked to/based on Chrome which according to my lecturer on the computer tech course I did 4 years back is "full of bugs".
I'm gonna switch off soon but plan on going back to the settings I had 2 days ago when I set a 'Restore Point' for safety.

Sounds like you need LastPass - not only does it save your login details securely & provide unique passwords, it also means you only have to remember one password.
