That's it really. I have a small, cheap saddle bag which carries my tyre levers, multi-tool and spare tube for months without being opened. All the contents get damp. The tools seem to survive. Does continuous dampness affect the rubber of the tubes?

BTW, I used the Search function on CC about this question. It mainly returned "Why 'normal' women don't ride bikes". Try it for yourself. WTF.

I rode through a puddle once. As I recall the tyre didn't disintegrate immediately.
That's not the point Adrian! When rolling, your tubes are probably pretty dry. In storage, they remain damp, perhaps.
Please pay attention.
At Ease.

BTW, I can give you some bogus scientific reasons why a rolling tube stays dry if you want, but please don't ask.

@slowmotion having had your same doubts, I now periodically take out my spare inners from the freezer bag they live in, dry them and re apply talc.
Don't think they disintegrate in the wet, certainly are easier to handle when dry imo.

Have you ever taken a tyre off and found water between tyre and tube?
