It was raining a river this morning, despite wearing winter boots my left foot still got a soaking and it was all my own fault for not putting the insole back in properly on Sunday:blush:
At least I remembered to bring a spare pair of socks:tongue:

Reasons not to cycle this morning:
1) Its raining
2) Changed my chain, and should have changed the rear cassette too. Bike can now be ridden in only a handful of gears.
3) Needed to pick some stuff up on the way in/home
4) Still not got any over-shoes.
5) Brakes need replacing and are almost useless in the wet.

Reasons TO cycle in this morning:
1) Need to get to the bike shop, and want to arrive on my bike.
2) Exercise - been missing far too many commutes this year (due to holidays / days out on business)
3), Oh come on! Its only rain! MTFU!

Glad I did - shared a greeting with a fellow wet cycling commuter!

Personally I find commuting in heavy rain, in the dark when it's cold and windy the worst conditions but I know everything else is easy and it doesn't happen often.

As BSRU says it cant get much worse than commutting in January. Look on the bright side its getting much lighter, so spring is on its way.

The roads were really greasy today, I felt my rear wheel slip a few times.

Its mornings like these I'm glad I've retired. Fridge is a bit empty though so a run down to the shops is required at some point.

In between here and there
I just missed the worst of it this morining, still got fairly wet. Still running my best bike without any guards so clothes shoes and everything are now drying very nicely in my Tournado Dry and 30 mins before I leave I will turn it on to warm them up a bit!

Honestly one of the best purchases cycle related great even when it is warm to dry off the sweaty clothes, for some reason I was not over keen on my lycra hanging over the heaters! I have nothing to do with them in case any one thinks I am waxing to lyrical!

Had scheduled a non-commuting 45-miler with a friend this morning - rained all the way (it started as I left, and has stopped now I'm home) - but at least it wasn't too cold, so despite wet everythings (and weighing a few pounds more as a result), it was very enjoyable, in a character-building sort of way. But nice to get back to a warm shower and a hot cup of coffee, and feeling virtuous.

I seemed to have a distinct case "invisibility" this morning. Lost count of the number of close passes and even had some blind woman start to pull out on me at a roundabout until she suddenly "saw the light" or should that be the day glo reflectives on the jacket, leggings and tyre sidewalls - not to mention the eye watering front lights!!!
