OK, it's not the first time I've got rained on since I started cycling to work a couple of months ago... It is however, the first time I chose the bike over the car and left home while it was already raining.

As Matty said, Congrats. Seriously well done. Once you get used to the fact it's only a bit of water, commuting in the rain isn't really that bad. Your next challenge is to set off on a long, fun ride (ie something you don't have to do and over 50 miles) when it's already raining and then you are a cyclist!!

Last saturday I set off on what turned out to be 44 miles... got 2 mins down the road and the heavens opened... carried on... does that count...

Rain does not bother me but wind does ! Had enough of the damn stuff during my 52 mile "commute" to my voluntary posting at Styal Country park with a fuuly laden Sirrus !
Congrats on facing the demon rain !

Maybe I'm a bit odd but I really love it when it's raining.

I did a 40 miler in January to and around Ashdown forest. Its was properly freezing cold, chucking it down the whole way and there was me in shorts (for the proper full on 'escaped from the ward' look) with a stupid grin on my face the whole way. Twas brilliant even if I was so cold I was almost involuntarily screaming all the way down the hill back into forest row!

Don't like it when my gears still damp at the end of the day after a morning commute though. Soggy shorts are not nice 2nd time round!

I am trying to dry my gear right now, cycle shoes are going to be the biggest challenge. Think I might double up my kit.

I love cycling in the rain, I hate cycling in the freezing windy winter rain, I hate even more my cycling lycra padded shorts hanging up on the office wall above the heater, if I employed me I would have made an offcial compalint by now!

You need to cycle in heavy rain, high winds at night when it's less than 5 degrees, at the moment it's 16 which is like having a just about warm shower.
