What’s a good rear rack for this bike?

It’s on long term loan to my elder son as his commute includes some gravel and some rough areas. He wears a back pack, but it’s not ideal. Two decent size panniers would be much better. Titanium hardtail, no eyes for attachment of anything.

You can get a seat post mounted rack that will take two bags, but from memory it’s limited to either 20lb or 20kg.

You can get axel mount panniers. Thats what I use on my CX bike. I'll go look.

Comes with new QR and the fittings. I used an old light bracket to mount the upper supports to my seat post.

Cheap as well. It's rock solid on my cross bike. Slightly fiddly if you get a puncture. It's spaced for discs but fits my non disk bike fine. The QR skewer is quite long. You'll just need an old bike bracket for the seatpost.

No; I am planning to cobble something together from whatever I can find lying around

You have a choice of two P-Clips on the top of the stays, or, like I did, use the 'band' off an old bike light (even a reflector band) and bolt the pannier stays to that. All the weight is taken at the axel.

I also like the fact I can fit and remove the rack in a matter of minutes. The bike is usually not fitted with the rack, but having tried to 'p' clip a rack to it for a four day bike packing trip, the 'p' clipped rack swayed more than I liked when loaded up. Searched for a different rack and found this.
