What a Day!

Hi all,

After several weeks away from cycling due to the weather and catching a killer bug from my daughter (well not killer, but I felt nearly dead for 2 weeks), I was able to get on the bike today. Full sun and 21 degrees, in November no less! I don't think I have enjoyed a ride so much, perhaps it is because I woke up this morning expecting it to be cold and wet, and doing the usual Saturday chores.^_^

By the way I live in South-West France, so sorry to all you damp Brits.:becool:

I'm not jealous at all, I'm still holding out hope of getting out for a ride tomorrow, though I'm not sure I've got room in my saddlebag for a snorkle :rain:

Hi Rockymountain,

Maybe that is why I loved today, summer here is so hot. Fine when you are on the move, but when you stop it feels like your head is going to explode, and the beetroot look is not great. Come to think of it, I think I look like your Avatar after a summer ride, french stripy top as well, although I think it should have some onions. Actually your Avatar gives me the creeps so I hope I don't look like that!

I just enjoy cycling although its nicer in good weather.
I dont think i managed 1 dry cycle to work this week and got drenched for most of the return journeys.
Still not to worry
"Keep calm and carry on" Is a good motto

I've never been in a hot climate long enough to find out, but don't you get acclimatised to the heat if you stay there long enough? I can recall only about 2 days here last "summer" where i could imagine that i was cycling in Spain or France.:sun:

To Accy cyclist, you would think that you acclimatise, but I have lived here for 11 years and it gets worse if anything. It doesn't help that I work outside in it everyday, so the last thing I want to do is cycle in the hot weather. Its a bizarre place this, in August the max temp was 44 degrees in the shade, last February the min. temp was 19 below freezing. Go figure!

It gets hot here in North Carolina, humid too. During the summer I wait until the evening, an hour or two before sunset, to ride. Staying out of the sun during the day helps if you can find roads with a lot of shade. During the winter it can get cold in December and January but it doesn't always. It snows enough to measure in my area maybe twice a year.

I will ride in the rain, wind or cold but not in any combination of the three, if I can avoid it. I never see myself riding in ice or snow, that is party time here.^_^ If I commuted to work on a bike I am sure that would be different but I just ride for fun and fitness.

Here is a five day forecast http://www.weathercity.com/us/nc/raleigh/?u=m it is about the same for the following week. So far so good this year. :bicycle:
