What a perfect day for a ride. (Or an escape).

I've now been off work since last Wednesday. That means I've done no riding. I already feel fatter, slower, and lazier. I'm a thoroughbred everyday commuter and apart from one really long trip this year, I've never cycled other than to commute or for leisurely rides with the kids.

So, the road bike is coming out of Winter hibernation, it's off with the q/r panniers, and I'm shooting out for a long, fast ride in this beautiful weather, on our empty roads for an hour or two.

It's either that, or watch kids playing Xbox, and then getting dragged round the sales.:headshake:

Meant to crack one of the road bikes out myself - didn't get chance. Tomorrow is a must, as got more eating and boozing in the evening. Need to re-energise the body. It's shut down a bit not riding !

Ahhhhh, a nice 20 mile round trip. A strong headwind outbound, but coming back towards Doncaster I think I set a record for sustained highspeed. Around 2-3 miles at a pretty steady 30 mph. I think the cars behind me were mightily impressed. God bless the tailwind.

It wasn't a perfect day here, 33mph winds (48mph gusts) but that was relatively calm compared to yesterday and I took the chance to escape and delightfully got home to a quiet house so I'm getting time to watch the history of the tdf dvd's I got for Christmas :becool:

Where did you get the tdf dvd from? Thanks

My brother its a 4dvd box set but I can only find the 12 dvd sets. This is the publisher (Goentertain) but their site is still under construction; you could maybe drop them a line.

Edit that link wildjetski posted, looks like it, my main dvd only goes to 2006 and there's a separate dvd to 2010.

Had 3 days off the bike and as I am currently visiting my daughter in Inverness I took the opportunity to get a quick 30 mile loop out to Fort George and back. It was great to be riding on unfamiliar roads, this includes going 'scenic' (practising for my next Audax), trying to find a shop because I forgot my bidon, being ignored by the 2 roadies I encountered and being told by a man walking his dog that my jacket was too loud.
