Here goes ....

After brief flirtations with Brut and Blue Stratos, I moved onto Denim and in emergencies my Dad's Old-Spice (I met and shared a packet of biscuits with the surfer in the advert). Denim was quite OK. My GF at the time worked Saturdays in boots and use to splash a drop on and she smelled great too!
Fo many years the height of my sophistication was Paco Rabanne
But then I grew-up a bit and went for ... Aramis, grown-up stuff! And I stuck with it and Paco Rabanne for years.

But eventually I saw that it was old-man's stuff really, so I rebelled with:
CK1
RL Polo
Then I hit Liquid gold with my 2 faves; Jean Paul Gaultier 'Le Male' for daily flirtatiousness and Dior's 'Eau Sauvage' for more serious occasions. Still my faves today. Problem is they are quite pricey and as a daily user tart I get through a drop.
Resently I've been enjoying the superb value of Paul Smith's products.
Currently using RL Polo 4. Nearly run out, must have a sniff around duty free again.

I went to an all-boys boarding school, so unfortunately, this wasn't really an issue for me...

aramis...

Aramis was used by my smarter friends, and as pubrunner says, it was seriously cool. Alas, all I could afford was an evil brew that came in yellow aerosol, Oriental Spice, IIRC.

It smelled a bit like Harpic and coincided with an appalling dip in my (yet to start) love-life. It really was the smell of a loser

Edit: I just tried to find a Google reference to it. All I found was this...

..believe me, it didn't just keep moths at bay...

Almost everybody posting here must be in their late forties or their fifties, judging from the numbers who used Brut or Aramis or Tabac.

Big hint: If you liked Brut ask your office Avon rep to get you a bottle of this: http://www.alpinebikes.com/shop/avon/skin-so-soft/?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=organic

It's mineral oil containing a Brut type fougere perfume, which somebody discovered some years ago has the ability to repel midges. The Army started using it and now it's sold all over the place for walkers, cyclists, anglers, foresters etc. It really works and nobody knows why! Avon wanted to drop the perfume but can't because it sells so well.

My own belief is that it contains compounds similar to those found in fresh green vegetation so it confuses the midge's ability to detect either the odour or the exhaled CO2 of its victims, who it must bite to get blood, which allows it to breed.

Skin So Soft is nicer than traditional repellents containing DEET, which comes out in your urine for 24 hours after you've applied it to the skin.

I remember buying a 'hooky' one of these when I was about 16. I still swear to this day that I was dabbing pi*s round my neck

I've only ever owned two bottles of aftershave. Issaye Miyake and Cool water, I think both evaporated in the bottle...

Even if I did own any, TT has stated she prefers mens natural odour, so I'd have thrown them out as soon as I knew!

At school, Patchouli oil was the big thing amongst 'the boys', along with high-waisters and blood-red Doc Martens.
I think we need a Patchouli oil revival.

Started with Insignia when I was a teenager, then moved on to Drakkar Noir, Jazz and later on to Rapport, Xeryus and Paco Rabanne XS Pour Homme.

Recent years have seen CK One and another one (whose name escapes me and my Google Fu is letting me down finding it) being used, and nowadays (on the very few ocassions I manage to get out without the kids) its simply the Gentry Grooming Compnay's own brand Gentrification "Night" fragrance.

Smell like a whore's handbag? Moi?
