Like the stylish over the handlebar dismount by the chap in plus-fours (about 24 seconds in). Surely they'll all die without h*lmets though.
Great bikes, great gear, great fun, great film - nice find!

Sorry to tell you it's been on here at least a couple of times in the past and each time my comments have been: how little traffic there was and how slim everybody was, not just cyclists.

This one is especially enjoyable: Railways dealing with snow, 1963. not a flouro jacket in sight, blokes actually digging by hand and.... no gloves!

I think yours has appeared here too. Still enjoyable though.

The biggest contrast with the first one isn't so much how thin people were but the differences in provision for cycles on the trains and how readily folk took to trains for a day out on their bikes.

Way before my time whenever it is... a joy to watch though... ah the days when commentary was delivered with stiff upper lips and good dose over pronunciation here and there.

I hadn't seen that one before - but I remember the days.

1. Did anyone get the train number?
2. The engine seems to be at the back now or is it going out the way it came in?
3. Railway staff helping to store bikes?????????????? It definitely wasn't filmed in York.
4. Unisex bikes?

Good also to see them all actually talking to each other on the train rather than listening to iPods.

I wonder how many of them were called Reg, Bert, Cyril, George, Alf, Harry or nicknamed Lofty or Chalky?
