and this is brilliant, a real period piece! Old Linda can bang out a tune!

Not since 2011 sadly. She retired because she was no longer able to sing, as a result of a degenerative condition (progressive supranuclear palsy). It started in 2000 and got gradually worse. Tragic. She is one of my all time favourite female voices.

I knew there would be others who agreed with me about this! I love the raw/punky energy it has.
I have had many a 'down the pub' debates on this, and it can get quite heated! I just can't understand why the Bruce fan club hate the first two albums. Can they be worse than some of their 90's offerings? Anyhow, each to their own :okay:

I like Iron Maiden (the album), but could never get into Killers, just doesn't really sound like Maiden to me. I should clarify it doesn't have to do with DiAnno vs Dickinson, is to do with the style, the complexity of the riffs, the structure of the songs, the first album had all that, Killers doesn't really. I guess it depends on what kind of metal you like.

Murders in the Rue Morgue was a classic though. DiAnno got dumped because of his supposed hedonistic lifestyle and prodigious drug intake, but that's what made him edgy and worth listening to. Bruce Dickinson is technically a much better singer, but theres little passion or soul there. As good as they are they really became a paint-by-numbers heavy metal band once Dickinson arrived.

As I said, it is a matter of taste, some people prefer the style of Killers, others prefer a more technical style.

I've been listening to the new stuff from Unleash the Archers, I love metal by numbers me
