After Fnaar bigging them up I'm giving Slim Gaillard and Slam Stewart a go on spotify - Slim and Slam!

30/40s jazz vocal type stuff - 'Bassology' on right now

Them's two cry-zee hep-cats from the righteous side - ya dig?!

The same Billy Childish from "the Milkshakes" - got a betamax video of them and "the Prisoners" on Channel 4's the Tube in 82ish! Graham Day of the Prisoners and Childish are buddies(I think), I'm sure they've collaberated on many Medway projects

I absolutely love "the Prisoners"(fave band) - several posts on this thread.

James Taylor(English one) of the James Taylor Quartet started of in the Prisoners.

The whole Medway thing was pretty influental - Childish and Day have had loads of project bands.

Ah! I like The Prisoners - though I never replaced my tapes. Never knew James Taylor started in them. May have to look for a best of Prisoners CD on amazon.

Aye and plays with them at reunion gigs.

Bought their LP's as the came out on Vinyl(Own-Up). Replaced them with CD's a few years ago - they all have many extra tracks on them, demo's and live stuff.
If you've got original recordings(Own-Up) hold onto them - their becoming pretty valuable. The Daggermen LP is on ebay for £125 - Wolf Howard who was in JTQ's first line up.

Billy Childish is good, Browser. Just been listening Howlin Rain but some gentler Silver Jews before bed now. American Water, one I never listened to as much as some, but liking now.

I love Silver Jews... but I'm Iistening to Iron and Wine today.

Howlin' Rain are truly wonderful, especially that guitar solo in "Calling Lightning With a Scythe" ... it sounds like he's dropped it down a fire escape or something.
