The Grateful Dead vids are pretty cool, I don't usually stray far from American Beauty and Workingman's but that's some nice stuff!

Albums are nice, TBM, but live and jamming is where it's at: check out the signature, with earphones, eyes shut and no distractions, and you might find yourself on the slippery slope to addiction!

Right, with you.

Was aware of it, but, notwithstanding his quality riffs and playing style, I find him too irritating to invest time in finding out what he thinks about things or has done in his life. What am I missing out on, then?

A very honest and forthright account of his life and of those around him. It is often very, very funny, in parts deeply moving and mostly illuminating. One reviewer said something along the lines of: "it's as if you get to corner him at a party and bombard him with every question you ever had and you get completely honest answers".

He ends up coming across as a very English sort of bloke, deeply moral in his own way and absolutely passionate about his music while rejecting what he calls the "flim-flam" of the rock business (in which froth Jagger is of course in his element). There seems to be general agreement that it is one of the very few rock autobiographies which is worth a serious read. I can't praise it highly enough but then again I've always liked the lad.

Well, brutal honesty, being very English, strong morality, passion about music and eschewing flimflam are all highly commendable, so who knows.........

Glad you liked it, threebikes. Ain't it something?

Sure is, and I thought they were just an acid trip when not playing AB or WD. The 1977 gig in your link has some nice straight ahead rock and roll too, liked the covers of Marty Robbin's western hit 'El Paso' and the Merle Haggard classic 'Mama Tried'. Great stuff!

Humph! esoteric in the backwater that is Brighton, probably got worldwide album sales of at least 100 million between those three.

Enjoy the CD, your mate obviously has taste and style, probably charming, witty and handsome too...
