The Lurkers made it round again in the CD player again today - it's been a while.

I'd nearly forgotten how good, for a late 70s punk band, the guitar racket in Go Go Go is (starts at 1'32").

And, bizarrely, it's not wholly unlike the pleasing racket sections in RL Burnside's electric version of Poor Boy, here accompanying some interesting NASA X-15 programme footage that is compulsory viewing for all engineering/aeronautics fans (the sequence showing the plane's post-detachment acceleration and ascent, from 3'00" to 3'39", is quite stunning, even if the videomaker has messed with the film speed).

ah, a burnside fan!
I like pleasing rackets too, so Hound Dog Taylor and Jack White are often being played here as well as RL.

There's something about a good racket. The Electric Eels were quite handy at it on a few tracks:

Accident
Agitated

Human Cannonball by the Butthole Surfers is rather good, too.

For a different type of racket, try this true masterpiece of cleverly crafted-yet-improvised and beautifullly executed noise.

Great track
