Spent this morning still trying to keep the rain out of my car. Then this afternoon did a mammoth spring clean of my wood workshop, well half way there. Now doing laundry.

Have you checked the pollen filter housing ? Usually located behind the glovebox. These can leak via the cabin air intake. Just a thought.

Yes, though I can't see how it is leaking in as it is dry there.
There is a 'gutter', attached to the underside of the plastic scuttle cover, that was broken off but being polypropylene nothing sticks to it to glue it back on. Even 'welding' it back on by melting the plastic didn't work. It is now 'Sugrued', pop riveted and silicone sealed. I am even tempted to make a rubber cover for the pollen filter to keep any water out of it, if that is where it is coming in.

I have also cleaned the scuttle drain holes and siliconed the grommets.

Of course, it could also be the sun roof, so that is now duct taped up, and it could also be the back door seal as we saw a wet spot there earlier after it had been raining a little. But that could be because I had been running an extension lead through there to power a heater to dry the carpets.

Pain isn't it. Thought about puffing talc into the suspect areas, you'd then see traces of a drip. Bit messy like.

Sunroof - check drain holes aren't blocked - they usually run down the screen pillars out at the bottom near front of door - spare rear brake cable (bike) down the drain should help !

I reckon you have already covered this as you seem very practical (given your 'inventions' we've seen).

I've not found the drainage tubes that are supposed to be in the pillars. Also there is no sign of moisture in the head lining that I can see.

Might have to try the talc trick though.

I am working on the basis that it will rain tonight so I can see if the floor is wet again tomorrow. The carpets are up so I should see puddles.

He is indeed, although this seems like an especially fiendish puzzle. Mind you, having the carpets half up, and the passenger seat in the boot didn't stop him getting the car round to help a neighbour with a jump start on Saturday morning!
We're giving a friend a lift over to Whitby next weekend. If it's raining, we may have to issue wellies!:rain:

No puddles in the car this morning though the carpets are still a bit wet on the bottom edges of the lifted section. I have a fan heater in there again drying it off.

I will pour water on the car later to see if I can spot any new wet patches or dribbles.
