Fluke by JH is a classic, and The Jonah. I think Nobody True was probably the last of the good one's, was that where he was a ghost?

Magic Cottage is a fantastic book.

If I was to read only one Stephen King again...it would be 'The Stand' ...no question!

The Stand was awesome all the way through....until the end:sad:

+1s for the Stalin, Right Stuff and Heart of Darkness. All fine books.

A bit of Russian lit for me at the mo' in the shape of Gogol's 'Dead Souls'. Its surprisingly funny.

I never look at the pics till I actually get to them - I don't know why, but there it is as Harry Worth might have said.

Me either, there's quite often a "spoiler" in one of the captions which is frustrating when the photo appears before the accompanying text

I was reading Paul Kimage's 'Rough Ride' on Holiday and I was about 3/4 the way through I've not been in the mood to pick it up and finish it since I got back, over 2 weeks ago.

Some of the best bits are at the back where he gets really gobshitey. Read on!

Arrgghh...you've obviously done the classic 'not finished my book on holiday, so I'll finish it at home'

Been there so many times. There was actually one year when I took an unfinished book on the next year's holiday.

Yea-when he got murdered whilst having an out of body experience and then didnt have a body to go back into:ohmy:
Am enjoying the one at the mo, Geralds Game, and weirdly iv read it about 3 times before. Did they make a film of it? I think it would be very slow if they did-far better to read....

Havn't read or seen that one....Probably best to avoid the films, Misery being the exception maybe

We've recently returned from a week's camping in Algonquin National Park so I'm finishing off "A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson. Tales of marauding bears in campsites are quite hilarious - from a distance!

As an aside, I wonder if many people read aloud these days. I do for about 20 minutes each night before bed and Mrs PV is my audience. We've done this for a while now and it has its merits, encouraging you to read slower and absorb the narrative. That said, I usually have another book on the go for myself.
