What are your plans for the summer?

Is anyone else looking forward to cycling during the early spring/summer, what with the longer days, warmer temperatures etc.

Have you got any particular routes planned?

I'm thinking about cycling on the sustrans route from Salisbury to Swindon myself. Anyone done that one?

Got a few things planned. FNRttC, Suffolk Sunrise ride, and maybe a trip to Alsace to ride the mountains.

It would be good to do a 100miler by the end of the summer. Haven't done one for decades! Did a 50 miler last year for the first time in about 10 years.

I'm helping to build a school in cambodia for 2 weeks. I may then go into vietnam and see if there is any cycling touring to be done there on a cheap budget - but I will need to get a bike over there to meet me after cambodia - could be tricky logistics wise

Hopefully cycling around Orkney for 3 weeks.

You'll be doing laps - I reckon you could do Mainland in a day....

Certainly Papay is walkable round in less than a day, with long stops to look at the sea and eat oatcakes.

As for me - well, there's a fortnight recumbenting through France with friends - no support car this year, so it's 2 weeks of 40-50 miles days, carrying our stuff. So I'll be learning to pack light.

I'd like to get another century or two in, maybe even ride down to my Mum's in a day (just over 100 I reckon). If the East Yorks guys are up for it, (Helen'll be in Canada, I guess!) I'd like to repeat the Grimpeur des Wolds, this year over the 100km distance, and maybe we can repeat the whole camping weekend thing we did. Now that I have the map for NW of York, I might explore that area a bit.

Otherwise, just keeping up the distances and fitness, and lose a bit more weight - this year, of course, I'm working full time (and a physical job too), so going out at least once a week is more of a commitment than when I could bimble out whenever the weather was nice.

Oh, and I'm going on the works trip to Spezi, which will be fun, and add a country to my list of places I've been (and will probably like more than here)...

There's more I want to do than I'll have time for but fancy two FNRTTC's - one up north and another down south, had been planning to do a CTCTC "England to Scotland" and some camping trips but we'll see about them.
There's a 1000k audax in Wales that I definitely haven't got time for but that sounded like "fun".

No real plans, would like to try some more Audaxes rides and maybe one of the newer overnight "full moon" rides, possibly the Dorset Dash, or more unlikely, the Dumb Run in Scotlandshire.

Am also running the roving tea van for the Exmouth Exodus again and really, really hope the weather will be kinder this year.

Most of all I just want to enjoy dry commutes!

Im signed up for the Northern Rock Cyclone 104 miler. Also planning to do either the c2c (again) or the Rievers Route.

Plus as many day rides as I can get in, usually 50/60 milers on road or mtb.

Bring on the sun:becool::tongue:

We have never been ones for cycling long distances, we will string it out for as long as possible. Its more the camping and savouring the Orkadian life style were looking for.
