funny how we often do not see ourselves as other do.

Yes, I described myself as "slim", I thought I was, but the evidence suggests otherwise.

Interesting pic of the Sumo F.M. I remember watching avidly in the 90's..Channel 4? with all that salt throwing etc.. Massively technical and dedicated profession. What happens to 'retired' Rikishi? Surely they can't all go off and become 'managers' of their own team, so to speak. Training quarters would have to get bigger and bigger! Can't see them doing a Beckham and modelling underpants and socks either.

The top ones do tend to go on to roles in the sport, but many use their fame and money to start businesses (of all kinds). A lot used to die relatively young but many lose weight carefully and successfully these days. Some, as in any sport, can't hack the outside world. I saw a very sad program about the Hawaian former Grand Champion, Akebono, who, having been throroughly humiliated in K1 (mixed martial arts) and having lost most of his money, is now making a poor living in the lower ranks of pro-wrestling as a 'villain'. It doesn't help that he's foreign and has always had a reputation as a bad boy and isn't very bright, but it's very sad. In contrast, Konishiki, also Hawaian, who was the biggest sumo wrestler ever to be in the top division, is now a very popular children's TV presenter here (one of my son's favourites), and also tours doing Hawaian music - he seems like a very well-balanced and happy guy. Here's a picture of Konishiki in the ring facing a much smaller wrestler, and then a picture of him on the NHK kids' show, Nihongo de Asobo:

I reckon I look a bit like Bob Kennedy (but with a bit more belly) but I could be wrong...

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Pretty much like the triathlete now with bigger thighs as i have lost a lot of upper body strength from my former physique, from the mid late 90s
