Sven Hassel ... Monte Cassino (The Beast Regiment)

I loved all the Sven hassel books, i may revisit them soon.

For me, currently reading Stephen Leathers 'Live Fire'. I'm well into his books at the moment, this one's not dissapointing me.

Coincidentally..i tried one of Andy McNabs books 'Crossfire' i think...while i was on holiday, never read his stuff...hated it with a vengeance. For me, his writing style is coarse, didnt like the way he writes effectively as though he's the character...just didnt do it for me. Nver finished it. Still, one mans meat...

Just finished The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet by David Mitchell (great first half let down by a ludicrous second half). Now reading Postwar by the late, great Tony Judt, and have just started The Siege by Ismail Kadare, one of my absolute favourite writers.

Comparing and contrasting Mandelson's account of the NuLab years with Andrew Rawnsley's Servants of the People. Toying with ordering the Blair version as well.

May drop politics for cycling when my copy of Fignon's 'We Were Young and Carefree' arrives from Amazon.

I am reading Flat Earth News about the state of modern journalism, and How Bad Are Bananas by Mike Berners-Lee about carbon footprints of stuff.
