It'll take 12 and 16 gram non-threaded cartridges , or 12, 16 and 25 gram threaded cartridges

I'm assuming it's the Genuine Innovations Ultraflate CO2 pump, seeing as the OP asked the same question a few days back - http://www.cyclechat.net/threads/looking-for-a-reliable-co2-pump
so it really doesnt matter ?i think 12 gram ones are fine ,yeah its an innovations ultraflate i got ,iv been told to partially inflate with a hand pump and when ure sure its ok and seated right ,unleash hell (well blow it up lol)

Nope - it matters not 
The plastic shroud holds the un-threaded cartridges in place, and obviously the thread holds the thread cartridges - you can dispense with the shroud it you want to save a few grams.
Size wise, just pick whatever floats you boat

As i said on the other thread, it does not matter.
If you only have the GI then go for un threaded as these work better with the base cover, but it can use both.
You dont need to put any air in first with a pump.
