What Cross bike ...

I sold the cube Cross Race and in the market for a new bike.
I discounted a single speed cotic just because I want an all rounder so looked at ....
Forme Calver
Boardman CX 9.0
Whyte Saxon Cross
Cannondale CAADX
etc etc etc
I did fancy a steel cyclocross bike but can't seem to find any.
What's y'all views on the above or any other options recommendations. Hoping this will be a bike for many many years and all round riding. Once narrowed it down I will arrange test rides.
Type of riding is Road, Trail, bridle ways, Salters Fell Track, up into Grizedale forest on some of the lighter of road tracks then roads/trains/canal paths home

Noooo shallow pockets, max would be 1300 1400 ish, but less is better genesis is an option as I would like a British bike if possible but I know that ain't always so

Researching a little more this morning and comparing some big names like Giant Defy, Cannondale etc. with Whyte Saxon Cross spec. The Whyte seems bang upto date with SRAM force 1 group set, SRAM Rival 1 hydraulic disc brakes, SRAM Rival 1, Long Cage, 11 Speed, WTB tubeless ready rims, with 15mm Axle and internal cable routing
Although it's doubtful most of this makes much difference it seems this is better bang for your buck whereas even the GIant at same price pitch has mechanical discs brakes. Reviews and spec lists are all good and that but I have never been one for latest greatest unless it's a proven difference or value so can anyone with a Saxon across give me any feedback or and Whyte owners?

Took a look that's a nice looking bike, 1100 quid too so cheaper than the Whyte. Doesn't say if hydraulic ar mechanical brakes though, doubt it really matters as I'm no professional and the Cube had canti's so either would be better I'm sure. What's your opinion of the Pearsons Vickster ? One down side is I could not try before I buy but I live near Wheelbase in Kendal so can try out Whytes, Cannondale, giant etc

Pearsons rock, I have two of their bikes. But as ever, you'd want to see it and given they are in SW London that may not be convenient

They build bikes to order so you can change the spec as you wish, call the Sheen store and have a chat if you go down that road

To be fair I had the R7 flatbar which is more MTB stylee not a roadbike, they may not be the same. Hence you need to sit on and try

Cubes do come up small so that may not help

LBS Selling 2015 Genesis CDF 20 for £799. See a lot of people on here rate them. Is this a good deal ? It's plane white 2015 bike

Why did you sell the Cube?

Sounds a good deal for the genesis assuming it's the Croix de Fer that was £1200, not the CDA?

Although the CDA has SRAM which would be my preference

It's the CDF that was 1200, the cube was too small and found it too compact after a while so it got little or no use.
