As long as I breathe, I attack.
Got back form the club run Sunday to find the family out , then got a phone call from the Mother in law telling me that the wife had taken my 4 year old to hospital, why she did not call me at the time is unknown but i will put it down to motherly panic .
Spent 8 hours in the hospital trying to get urine samples out of an ill child ,which the nurses took away and told us nothing.
Eventually after hours of waiting and the occasional nurse trying to take his temperature + blood pressure which stresses the lad out to the point of hysteria we were told that he might have a kidney infection and to come back Tuesday for more tests.

Monday has been about making sure he drinks and is "happy "

BTDTGTTS - hope the little'un turns out to be OK.

Me, I jumped on the train to Windermere with bike and spent Saturday thrashing the Lakeland trails and a few more and the North Face route at Grizedale on Sunday. Glorious weather on Saturday and the rain held off mostly on Sunday. Not many people around though and saw very few mountain bikers off road even in Grizedale. Arrived home aching, covered in mud and grinning like an idiot.

I hope that little'un is feeling better...

Saturday and Sunday were spent travelling back from France, arrtiving home about 7pm Sunday.

Today I had the bright idea of getting my old solid forked mountain bike out, and "adapting" it to be a Winter training (road) bike. Changed the knobbly tyres for some narrower semi-slicks that were hanging around in the garage. Put on a different saddle. Then decided to fit some mudguards to keep the worst of the rain off. In Jeremy Clarkson's phrase: "How hard can it be?"

Answer (for a mechanically inept person such as myself) is "Not easy at all". But I suppose that the cuts will heal before long......

Back to work tomorrow, but maybe I can fit in a couple of "training" rides on evenings this week.

Hope little cybersquire is feeling better- Miss A_T caught kidney infections a few times so best follow through the urine tests and find the best acting antibiotic for it. Be gone in a few days.

Been a strange week-end here which never really got going, but finished with fish, chips and mushy peas at North Shields so am a happy bunny!

Best regards to mini CK

What have I done? Ruddy shopping mainly. Oh I tell a lie, got a few miles in yesterday on my winter bike, (shakedown ride more than anything really), and it turned into a proper test when it absolutely lashed down within the first mile and for the next 5 or so miles. I haven't been that wet on a bike in a long while

Cleaned the oven, did a load of washing ( I know how to live!!) went for a ride, walked the dog, met some friends for a meal.
The ride *may* have involved tea and cake...

All the very best to your little one Cyberknight.

Got up, was working until 3.30am on the taxis, had tea and a prompt conversation with Comet about our brand new TV that's packed up. Tried to find a receipt and succeeded. Wow, what a start. Went shopping with my eldest to Clevedon's new Tesco where they've changed everything around so much I can't find anything. Bought mince and tomatoes, lots of them, with garlic, onions and spaghetti as well as nappies and wipes and other mundane essentials, cider and pilsner.

Went for a ride after my traditional baked beans on toast. Did a small 46 miles but climbed Shipham Hill and Cheddar Gorge, double-backed and descended the Gorge and back home. The bath was nice and so too was the filter coffee. My eldest wanted to jump in so she splashed around for a bit.

Got on with dinner - meat balls, homemade tomato sauce and spaghetti. Had two pilsners, yum.

Spent about half an hour smiling and being smiled back at by my 3 month old boy as he responded to my hellos and other questions. God love him.

That's it really. Just watched The Killer Years all about F1 in the 60s and 70s on BBC iplayer and read the Yellow Jersey chapter of Chris Sidwells' A Race for Madmen. Time for another half of cider and the sack beckons.

Day off tomorrow, so another 50 miler planned before lunchtime.

Cycled 85 miles last Sunday, cycled 84 miles yesterday.
Cycled 4 miles first thing this morning from leaving car in for service.
So I did NOTHING for the rest of the day.
