Oooh!! Ooohh!! Just remembered that I "chased" a pheasant along a bridleway for a bit the other day .. it was running along for a little while as I bore down on it before it suddenly remembered that flying trick they can do. xx(

They really are stupid animals, I often get that as well.

I heard a woodpecker hammering on a tree , probably a Green Woody given the location , then had a pair of Egyptian Geese do what pedestrians often do , see me then stroll in to my path.

The weather is gorgeous here at the moment: I went out for a walk round the lakes at lunchtime, it was lovely. Really looking forward to the ride home tonight .. and this thread has got me in just the right mood for it. I think I feel the long way home coming on ..:angry::smile:

Woodpeckers, that reminds me: I dreamed about a woodpecker last night, it was a really huge woodpecker and it appeared to be made of that sort of fur that gonks were made out of. Garish it was, yellow, fluoro. green, orange etc. I've no idea why I'm telling you all that, can't even remember anything else about the dream. Except it was in a tree, which it was pecking.

Good idea for a thread!

I also saw a mandarin duck! On the River Ravensbourne in Ladywell, S.E. London. Trying to get off with a female mallard. Also a heron, grey wagtails, chiffchaffs, goldcrests, goldfinches, a big flock of redwings, great crested grebes nesting on the Rotherhithe docks, lots of other common birds, many singing, spring at last, yay.

My commute is only about a mile, so I rarely see anything interesting. I must start taking a longer route.
Often see some rabbits though.

I hoped you waved....

Erm, not much cycled 11 miles in, then 6 miles to another site, 6 miles back, then 6 miles home - 29 miles in all. Also playing with my new Hope Vision 1's - good grief they are good  - had them on alternate flashing this am...fairly light (not dark), but they didn't half make drivers get out of the way...... then one on medium, one flashing on the way home....new toys.....

Long way round........ I keep going on at a fellow colleague that lives 10 mins walk (if he dawdles) - he's a cyclist, but walks in - go the opposite way, and cycle back..... he sometimes rides his Madone into work, all of a couple of minutes....

I've got two as well and they do help ward off motorists.
top tip - if you keep using the same one on flash, then it'll still have battery power when the other suddenly cuts out, although pressing the button again once it's cut out often gets at least another 10 minutes of light.

A minor diversion and a cycle up the top of Weetslade colliery gives a 360 view taking in the Cheviots on the Border, across the north sea, down to newcastle and the north pennines beyond and finally west towards the forests & moors of northumberland. I always stop for a look, a slurp and a few thoughts.

Yep thought that.....that's why I went for two - shift over if it dies.... flippin awesome...... (fenix light output on the 2009's, but with 4 light levels - the flash is on low and it's very powerful) - I want to use them off road as well - so it's a quick flip over if I need to.... went for Panasonic Infiniums hybrid AA's, although rated at 2100, they have wee wee'd over any other battery type in my camera for life, flexibility, and no use time - hybrid's are the way to go - the battery quality is better, and I think they perform close to 2500/2700's.but last much longer (as in recharge cycles)
