i have noticed that few are putting salt in with your drinks is there a reason for this.

Just a pinch or two. The end result is no different to a sports drink you play a quid for!

+1 on the salt. On a long ride you'll sweat a suprising amount a salt so a pinch or two will help keep you feeling hydrated

Water plus:

If I'm racing, a half-strength PSP22 topped up with orange juice with a pinch of salt.

If I'm overnighting then I have a flask of coffee.

Very occasionally, if the occasion is appropriate, a G&T in an insulated bottle.

I only ever use water. Have to stop every so often to find somewhere to refill!

Salt in the water, would be to replace salt in your body, that you've lost through sweating I take it? Not taste like the ocean?

I have to stop now and then to find somewhere to pee it back out, which I think proves your drinking enough.

I take a pack of salted nuts on longer rides (60 miles plus) dont like drinking salt.

Just loaded the bag with stuff for tommorows ride. Water ,nuts, flapjack, jelly babies anmd a banana. Probably get cake at one of the cafe controls.
