I'll be using my camera for the first time tomorrow! The main purpose for me using it will be to show how fast I am compared to Mags!!!;)

Out of interest does anybody have any experience of the ATC5K, it was a present and I'm hoping for some good results.

 Be careful, the visual angle for the camera can make a big difference to your apparent speed. I looked pretty slow on my ATC2K, but much faster on my latest camera...... oh dear!

:biggrin: No heavy breathing now as you overtake slugs and snails

Come on guys, I'm not that slow! Remember I was riding a bit slower in my lastest video due to the road conditions, honest!

(Actually if I do get a new bike this year, I'd love to do a 10m TT, then it would be official how slow fast I am! ;))

Coincidently I put my ATC 5K on my mike this morning, I accidently deleted the file though. On bright days in particular exposure can be a problem and I've learnt from my first run pre Christmas to angle the camera down slighlty to avoid the problem on my subsequent runs like this.

What are the real benefits of using a cam on our commutes, 9 out of 10 times the police do nothing when you complain and hand them the evidence.

I had a (very) close overtake, showed police the footage, and they paid the driver a visit.

Some would like to say it is just a tool for Attention Whores but they would be flamed for trolling and be banned from CycleChat.

So I won't.

What's wrong with being an attention whore? The camera has to pale into insignificance besides my recumbent. A female friend was slightly miffed the other day when she realised how invisible she was riding next to me.

Goo ... OT, but I loved School of Seven Bells from one of your podcasts before Christmas. I even bought the album.;)
Regarding cameras ... some people enjoy filming their commutes. It's at worst harmless, and at best it gives evidence against poor drivers. Wearing a head cam wouldn't be my thing, but if others enjoy it then the best of luck to them.

So I won't.

Can you provide an example of someone being banned from CycleChat for saying that?

I haven't used my camera for ages, I don't know why, it's just sitting on the table. I need to get back into the routine of charging up the batteries and so on - mind you, more and more I don't wear my helmet, for some reason.

But I digress....

The major disadvantages with cams is that they make cycling seem like a less normal activity and many of the accident/near miss uploads skew the quotidian reality of riding a bike and make it seem more dangerous than it is.
