What, exactly, is wrong with a McDonald's?

Oh you're just the worst kind of friend. Chip nicking is a very bad sin indeed.
They aren't chips, so I feel far less guilty and I only nick if invited to do so! (Probably as my friends can't stomach a whole portion either)

Yes, I seem to remember you mentioning it recently.

The food is still crap though - they put too much salad in the Big Mac as well as too little salt in the patties. And their Cola is not fit to lubricate a parched dog's throat.

Can your son fix this across the entire Mcglobalmononopolyfastfood empire?
Ahem
I'd rather eat yesterday's Daily Mirror. It's cheaper and has the same texture and flavour.
.... But much more sch1tt in it ....

........
The type of customer they attract, who think it's perfectly acceptable to ditch all of the meal packaging out of their car window once they have finished eating.
I rode from Arlington into Barnstaple the other day and noticed that virtually every piece of roadside rubbish (and there was a surprisingly large amount) was emblazoned with the golden 'M'.
If it's like this in rural Devon, god knows what city streets are like!

I am old so have a bus pass for free travel the bus gets used on occasions, they have cheap McDonald offers on the back of the tickets that I make use of, I call in the one at Barnsley at the side of the TPT when I am out that way, on Monday I did a Humber Bridge 100+ loop on the CX, exploring a bit meant I missed my usual cafe stop so McDonalds in Scunthorpe after 65 mile was a welcome stop, Mcchicken and fries (can't call them chips) latte and a Coke type drink for less than a fiver, whats not to like.

I hear that the quality of McD's chicken nuggets is second to none. I got this from an informed source by the way.
So what you're saying that having none is better than having McNuggets?

So really this thread is about how shoot their burgers are (they are) rather then all the alternative nicer foods they do supply of which I mentioned earlier. For those that are complaining about litter. I see far more discarded half eaten kebabs and other non MacDonald's crap on a weekend night. The shops are very good at keeping the vicinity of the stores clean and tidy. Not many other similar type stores do the same.

They are also very cycle friendly. Opening up their doors at silly AM to a bunch of grumpy cyclists with a smile and an eagerness to serve. Whilst we tramp all over their clean floors and use their free wi-fi.

Knock MacDonald's for their crappy burgers as much as you like. But don't knock them for just being Macdonalds. That really is just snobbery.

In between here and there
McDonalds are amazing, if you people watch the staff it is fantastic never seen so many teenagers working hard with seemingly very little management standing over them keeping it happen. The System just seem ingrained nearly always.

I don't mind their food but have become a Latte supping Panini munching knob more recently.

I depend on McDonald's - not for nutrition, but for wi-fi for work.

There's never any pressure applied to buy anything, although I usually have a coffee.

As a regular in several branches, I'm on speaking terms with some of the staff, particularly the ladies who clean the tables.

I've been told by several McDonald's is a decent employer.

If you want a basic part-time job in the north east, you can find yourself at the mercy of small companies whose employment policies are ropey at best.

McDonald's may be over-corporate, but at least that means their employees are treated in line with relevant legislation.

This^^^^

A couple of things:
People then go on to praise the local kebab/chinese/indian/whatever restaurant with no idea of what goes into their food, who and how it is prepared, hygiene standards etc. Interesting that most food poisoning comes from this kind of takeaway foods and high street restaurants. McD has very high standards, levels of training and is very food-safe. You don't get better. This is true whether just north of the M62 or Bangkok. That they can deliver this on a global scale is an indication of their commitment to global standards and best practice. Furthermore they implement and audit staff welfare systems at all their manufacturing plants which are among the best in the world whether in Brazil or Turkey. Now somebody will tell me that they have been caught-out and that is true, and retribution is swift. In an imperfect world McD is pretty good.
McD burgers don't taste of much or lack salt because as the advert says they are 100% British Beef, no salt, binder, seasoning or anything else added. Go to your butchers, by forquarter mince make a burger without adding anything else, fry on a griddle without any extra oil of fat an tell me what it tastes like.
Agree that their bread is a big disappointment.

Another point, for all those that think that fish and chips is some kind of folksy food nirvana, let me prick that bubble. Unless you live by the coast and you can ascertain that the chippy buys his fish every day fresh from the harbour, you can be pretty sure it's frozen or come via some industrialised distribution chain. Fresh fish is something of a misnomer unless you've taken it from the fisherman whilst it's twitching. Secondly, most of the UK's F+C batter is not made from some secret family recipe it's blended in 2 big factories in the UK and sold under a variety of brands .... as does the Curry Sauce. The Tartare Sauce, Ketchup, salt, Pepper and Vinegar are all industrial products.

Right, I'm off for some Turkish street food and I've packed my Immodium.
