The type of customer they attract, who think it's perfectly acceptable to ditch all of the meal packaging out of their car window once they have finished eating.
I rode from Arlington into Barnstaple the other day and noticed that virtually every piece of roadside rubbish (and there was a surprisingly large amount) was emblazoned with the golden 'M'.
If it's like this in rural Devon, god knows what city streets are like!
That is my one grumble about Maccy Ds. There's a 24 hour one near Glossop and a lot of people stop at the drive through before heading over the Snake Pass to Sheffield etc as there's nothing for miles. The problem is the occupants finish the food and then don't want the smelly packaging in the car so they chuck it out of the window....in the middle of the Peak District National Park.
I've emailed McD to ask them what they're going to do about this. Although they have little control over this, it's bad for their reputation to have their packaging making an eyesore in a beautiful part of the country. They didn't bother to reply
Other than that they're great. The restaurants are clean, you know exactly what you're going to get. It's fast. It's cheap. It's often available 24 hours a day. It has a more UK-centric, sustainable sourcing policy than a lot of competitor outlets. Folk seem to love them. If you don't like McDs for whatever reason that's fine, but don't look down your nose at those who do
