Not seen this for years so when I saw it pop up on Netflix I felt it only right to introduce my girlfriend to some Tarantino weirdness 🤣

She gave it a 3/10 which is better than most of the films I make her watch.

A much maligned film imo.
Mostly because people were taking it too seriously. Go into it as Depp does panto and it's a fun film.

Wait - Depp does something -other- than panto? :-) And yes, it is a fun film.

One of the more insane things I've seen recently and I loved it.

It's essentially a parody/satire of Barney, only our "hero" is a narcissistic freak who kidnaps kids into his world. You get some early visual cues that things are going to go badly, but just how mad it gets has to be seen to be believed.

If you've seen the TV series Happy! you're in the right sort of ballpark.

Bit of a punt this one as "gritty indie prison drama" doesn't always fill me with hope, but wow. Just wow.

The two leads are incredible in different ways and I didn't see the ending coming at all.

There are the usual clichés, but it's so well done I can completely forgive them.

David Johnson is brilliant in the movie.
Such a fine actor.
Check him out in The Long Walk if you haven't seen already

Thanks for the reminder, that was a belter.

ETA: I remember what happened now, I got the name mixed up with The Road which I watched instead and then completely forgot about The Long Walk.

Lone Wolf McQuaid (1983), Norris, Carradine et al. Predictable, but satisfying.

Iron Mask (2019), Schwarzenegger, Chan, Hauer et al. French/Russian/Chinese fantasy set in England (and the rest of Europe and Asia) at the turn of the 18th century about a plot to substitute Peter the Great on his throne, and dispose of the evidence. Also about a lost Chinese Princess who had to find her amulet to free the dragon and her village from a witch and her techno-magicians.
You have to pedal hard to keep up, but the cast looked as if they enjoyed themselves, so there’s that.

Sounds awesome but I don't want the cast to look like they're having fun making it, I want to look like I'm having fun watching it.
