Expendables II.

Seennit all before in Expendables I. The only watchable moment is Schwarzenegger ripping the door off a Smart car.

1/10.
You may not know it, but you’ve also seen Expendables III then too.

9/10 Sci Fi

There’s something Stanislaw about this, were my first thoughts. Blends in ideas of the nature of self, our cellular existence, the concept of genuine/original and has a huge helping of art in there. Plus the mandatory gruesome, ridiculously graphic violence.

Portman is great as are the rest of the cast, I only briefly thought about the fact it’s all female.

Oh finally, and possibly most importantly, an alien aspect that isn’t merely a reflection on humanity!

Thoughtful and well executed, most people won’t like this.

Anomalisa. I'd never heard of it, but turned out to be a really interesting oddity - an adult animation, brilliantly done, built around a strong script and some very good voicing (if that's a word). Never seen anything like it before; don't think I'll forget it in a hurry.

American Psycho - 10/10

Love the book, love the film. Puts every other effort about decadence, greed and depravity to shame.

The business card scene is absolutely masterful.

There's a really weird sequel to it too, which borders on being so bad it's good, but never quite manages it.

Marvel Infinity War 8/10

Not telling you anything about it - but you need to stay the extra seven minutes, for the 30 seconds after the credits

I know they didn't invent the after credits idea, but the way Marvel have made it "a thing" annoys me. At least they had the decency to rip this pish out of it, and themselves, with Deadpool.

Bored tonight! Just meandering through some tv channels, I found...
The Winter Soldier on some freeview channel. Typical 80s or 90s crud film...utter tosh, got even more bored, turned it over to find....
Day of the Triiffids.
I suppose it was good in its day, I remember watching it as a kid and it probably scared me ...but it doesn' t stand the test of time for me.
Gave up again.

The Darkest Hour. As good as they all said, with a towering performance by Gary Oldman, just like they said. Also a razor sharp script and a tremendously evoked feel of time & place. I don't think most people have any idea just how dark the dark before the dawn really was, or what a monumental character it took to prevail. I certainly didn't.

Had a fun trip to the cinema to see Avengers Infinity War

If you like superhero movies in general and Marvel ones in particular you will definitely like it.
It's funny, dark, exciting, unexpected.
It's hard to make a story with so many characters hang together coherently, and they manage as well as could be expected with that problem. It's also quite long, but probably has to be.

I liked it. 7.743/10

I absolutely loved the main storyline, very different, it took a while to become apparent what was causing the shimmer and its effects. The sub plot of the female cast and their reasons for being there lacked a bit...but I loved that film. Very thoughtful as you say.
