Ooh, you're making me hungry right now - and I've only just eaten!A generous portion of scrambled eggs with bacon on wholemeal toast with lots of butter; just about the most balanced meal an athlete could eat.

ohhhh I'm craving one of those now and I've not even been on the bike today :-)A bakery in Wakefield sells Chocolate Orange Danish Pastries, those are nice to (if timing/direction is right) to collect on way home
Old picture, from when I had one at work, a while ago (they're about 6" diameter)

If the thought is 'normal' food; Pea & Ham Soup, at the moment

Not had a KitKat since the 29th April '89(Last Saturday of the month).Am I alone in not getting the point of cake, in any of its forms? I can eat a couple of ham rolls, mid-ride, but cake just doesn't appeal. However, I would kill for a KitKat and a decent cup of coffee. At the end, a "Full English" fills me with horror. A couple rashers of bacon and a fried egg just about manage to keep my fingers drumming on the table until the bar opens.
My 'go to' food for long rides (600/1000/1440/600km this year) is a combo of small cubes of flapjack, cut up cookies, salted cashew nuts and 'big' raisins. After mixing that lot up in a bag, I give it a good dose of salt to address the 'I need salt' issue and the 'it's too sweet' issue. 500g of that takes me a long way (replenishment in drop bags for the longer rides). Boiled eggs are good as are multiple slices of pepperoni/salami (addresses protein and savoury requirements). At shops choc flavoured milk (or just a pinta) with a meat-filled 'slice (hot or cold) are quick and easy to digest. A small (depending on driving or not) beer at the end hits the button too.what kind of food and drink do you crave whilst doing a seriously long bike ride. . . . For me, I have an irresistible urge for chocolate milk shake and anything that contains oats.( mainly oat and raisin flapjacks)..:-) :-)
