I handed my notice in (3 mths) at Xmas 2007. As I was going to a competitor my employers forced me to stay on garden leave (full pay and accruing holiday etc) for the whole 3 mths, made me give back my pc and phone.Essentially, 3 mths paid holiday.... So off cycling in NZ and then a week in Portugal!

Ker-ching!

Had a bad car accident (only to the car, not to me) and had a hire car for 4 months. My employers were paying for the hire car and since it was someone else's fault, my employers claimed off the other party's insurance. Eventually, the insurance company sent me a cheque for £3000 to cover the cost of the hire car. However by then, I'd been made redundant and my former employers were subject to a local authority cover up. I never did get asked for the hire car money. ;)

On holiday once in Kos with the wife. Towards the end of the 2 weeks, we started getting bored and we knew it'd be a rush when we got back.(i hate arriving back home then having to start getting ready for work within hours)

With about 3 days remaining, i approached the rep and asked if they could sort a flight out....
 Why, whats wrong ?...
'Nothing...had a good time, but it suits to go early. I'm not bothered about the cost, thats no problem'

She came back with a cost of just over £100 each...no problem.

You'll need to pay at the desk in the airport, its the only way.

We duly arrived, went to the desk, collected the tickets and got my debit card out....

No, i think its already paid for said the girl....

Hasty exit toward check in

After I'd done my Canal Walk the other week, I got the train from Todmorden to Manchester Victoria. No ticket office at station and nobody came to inspect/sell tickets on the train.
Actually, there is one, it just isn't where you'd expect it to be! It is in the waiting room on the platform for the Manchester-bound trains. It's fine if you are headed that way, but it's annoying if you are coming back to Hebden Bridge by train as I did a couple of weeks ago. There wasn't much time until the train was due so I had to run up the stairs to the wrong platform, buy a ticket, then run back down the stairs, take the tunnel under the lines, and climb the stairs on the other side. Not great for those with mobility problems. The person I was with didn't bother, saying she would pay on the train. As it happened, the ticket guy looked at my ticket and walked straight on by without asking to see her ticket.

I was working for a very big supermarket chain and it was 2 days before xmas. Every 4 hours the head cashier would do a run and collect all spare money and checks from all the tills.

She needed a man to hold the secure unit that held the deposits, but she handed me then to put them in as I was handcuffed to it.

I was very good friends with the managment and the cameras were turned off, i slipt till number 10 bag into my pocket and split with the managers.

We got over £500 each and all the customers that had paid by check got free xmas shopping.

When I sold my flat in London, my solicitor didn't get a bill from the estate agents for their fees. The solicitor had held on to the money for a year, received no bill from the estate agents in that time so sent me a cheque. Given my opinion on estate agents, that made me smile.

Funniliy enough, after seeing Tom Jones at the MEN Arena, I caught a train from Manchester Victoria to Sowerby Bridge - no-one to pay. No ticket collector or inspector on the train and Sowerby Bridge is an unmanned station. Saved £8.50
Hope you didn't put your feet on the seat!

When working at my last job about 15 years ago I paid out my own money (Credit card cashback !) £50 for an urgent delivery (about 10% of my monthly salary) I got th emoney back from work and complained to the company about the £50 delivery charge to which they credited it me back !

Also I worked full time at 16 (took a year out) and was off to college in Septemember.
It was july and I had 2 weeks holiday then 4 weeks at wrok until college.
Sadly ! I got the sack for not going to college every Monday (Just used to mooch around) and they gave me 4 weeks pay. I enjoyed my holiday !!! When I came back did some temp work for 3 weeks (tax free student cough cough) and earned £400 which paid for all my driving lessons and 2 x driving tests.

The Woolworths plate glass window, Buckingham branch, about 1981/82. That was me, although the brick was not specifically aimed at the window in my defence, it was aimed at a pupil from Stowe school who ducked:blush:

Well, they eventually went under. Thanks to you.:hyper:

Pat-down search by the police, under the Westway nr Paddington, 1984. If they'd looked in the pocket on the arm of my jacket, they'd have found a wee lump of cannabis ;)

When the Wolverhampton Safeways introduced self scanning in the mid 1990s, me and my then girlfriend used regularly to "forget" to scan certain items.
