So I was wondering, what is it with cyclists and motorway bridges?

I know I tend to stop on them and watch traffic from time to time, but coming home from Scotland yesterday both my OH and I could not help but notice the number of cyclists (in Scotland and England) who also had stopped on a motorway (or major A road) bridge to seemingly also watch the traffic...

I cycle over the M4 most days and never stop, probably because it is a reasonable drag into the wind and coming the other way I'm freewheeling over 25mph.

Nice shot John, I have quite a few (hidden on a hard drive somewhere) from a bridge next to the Bothwell southbound services. Got some great shots with the cars pulling off into the services.

We often stop on a motorway bridge near us and wave at the motorists. We have waved the Union Jack and the Danish flag in the past, Jannie is Danish. The motorists always sound their horns.

You can class it as a Hearts and Minds project.

We should all take it up. ^_^

The lady riders could even be more inventive.

On the original FNRttC Swansea route, we stopped to gaze at the fires of Mordor...

Ahh, it's just a clever ruse cyclists use to trick their minds, you stop for a breather or drink but don't want your brain to register that you've stopped moving so you stop and meanwhile look at moving objects (if you're lucky..or they are..lucky to be moving that is...oh bloody hell, it was simple when I thought of it..)

Part of my ride today between Homes Chapel and Knutsford had me crossing the M6 six times!!

The wind nearly stopped me but not quite.

NCR 10 climbs up over the A1 at Wide Open from level... it's a sharp little gradient, so taking a run at it gives you a good excuse to pause briefly at the top for a gloat!
