I thought limb breakages were the most common skiing injury. You'd think they'd do something about that first.
Not at all, with modern boots and bindings. You're far more likely to do a ligament or possibly dislocate something. Either of which will hurt more and take longer to heal IME.
AFAIK helmets for skiing is another of those knee-jerk (so to speak) reactions driven by people who think it 'must be safer'. Because snow is so very hard...

Now ice-skating...that's just silly and dangerous... well, it is when I'm out there.

I reckon a shoulder or arm or hip or knee injury is far more likely.

I can vouch for that

Oh, so that's it.
We're wearing helmets because someone skied into a tree in 1998.
In 2003 I slipped getting out of the bath and dislocated my shoulder.
I never go near water without protective clothing now...

This thread should be moved to the Helmet & Headphone Debates forum - you lot are basically just doing the same old stuff that you do over there, but you are disturbing the peace of my Sunday afternoon by doing it in Cafe instead. :stop:

This protective suit should keep you out of trouble, the bath and any body of water. It would also double up as a defence against trees should you be unfortunate enough to ski into one. No need for a helmet!

That's it, and didn't one of the Kennedy's also die by skiing full tilts into a tree? Seems to me removing all the trees would have a more beneficial effect than enforcing helmet wearing. And to think all those green chumps eant to save trees, when they're a proven killer. Tut.
