I think it's the light touch. Shaun and Co. do a lot of work, but he isn't egotistical and nor is the forum driven by corporate goals. It just works quite nicely. It also isn't too specialist - and there is room for everyone, even recumbent riders . The one thing that would improve it even more is if people learned a bit from Shaun and didn't feel the need to disparage any particular section or interest.
