I'm off through Harrogate tomorrow on a 120 miler, so I suppose if it was not there, I would have to turn back, or fall in a big hole

I've never been anywhere on the east coast between the Thames and the Tyne. I quite fancy going to Bridlington, Scarborough, Filey, Robin Hood's Bay or Whitby; Hull - no!

I cycle up as far as Whitby as it is a nice area and it would make a good CC ride out, but the only problem is, the distance, the route is 120 miles round trip, not sight seeing, and usually takes about 8 hours with a few good stops on village seats as there is a good few hills so it is a demanding ride.

If it took account of going right to the sea fronts of Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Filey, Flamborough Head etc and having cakes, chips and ice cream etc, it would make a very long day and increase the mileage a good bit.

The best idea would be to shorten the distance, to increase sight seeing time, maybe do a circuit onto the North York Moors and back to the start, so it probably would mean starting at maybe Brid or Scarborough, which I think would probably put it into the realms of fantasy, with all the trains and travel etcwith the distances involved

Harrogate is where people from Boro'bridge, Aldburgh and Roecliffe went to go shopping...at least that's where my gran always took me on the local bus in the 60s when I stayed at her house...
ah no, that was Ripon!

Can any Harrogate dwellers please prove me or my friend wrong after disagreeing about whether there are seagulls in the town? I think there probably is and she doesn't.

Also what do you call a local from the town? Harrogatian? Harrogit?

More useless information re Harrogate.

Someone I worked with was PA to Dustin Hoffman when they filmed Agatha here.

Apologies - something to say before Lewis starts @ 2000.
